Box Score

DURANT, Okla. - The West Texas A&M offense started the game off hot with two runs in the top of first inning, but couldn't overcome 16 hits by Southeastern Oklahoma in a 8-7 loss Sunday afternoon in the final game of its weekend series at the Ballpark in Durant. The Buffs fall to 8-36 on the season with a 5-30 record in Lone Star Conference play.

WT struck first with two runs in the first inning on an RBI single by Kevin Els that scored Brian Schupp, then a wild pitch by the Savage Storm that plated Will McLaughlin to give the Buffs a 2-0 advantage. Southeastern responded with one run in the first, and three in the bottom of the second to take a 4-2 lead.

A four-run fourth inning gave the Buffs the lead once again, started by a Greg Shanks leadoff home run to left field. After two straight Buffs were hit by pitches, Darby Walker stepped up to the plate and hit an RBI single to center field scoring Ben Edge. Schupp and McLaughlin both had sacrifice flies to score runs before Justin Graham was caught stealing to end the inning.

The Savage Storm answered back in the bottom of the fourth with one run, before breaking the game open with two in the sixth and one in the seventh to seal the victory. WT reliever Frankie Rodriguez (1-4) took the loss, after giving up only three hits and one earned run.

The Buffs will resume action at the friendly confines of Conner Park this weekend as they take of LSC foe Northeastern Oklahoma in a four-game series starting Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
