AMARILLO, Texas - The Texans of Tarleton State used the power of 13 runs on 15 hits to take the final game from West Texas A&M, 13-3, in front of 45 fans on a cold and windy day at the Dilla Villa in Amarillo. The win improves Tarleton to 17-18-1 with a 13-13-1 mark in the LSC, while WT falls to 17-21 with a 10-18 conference record.

"Game four was a big letdown for our team" said head coach Matt Vanderburg "We weren't aggressive enough at the plate, and Tarleton took advantage of it."

The Buffs took the early 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning, as Tyson Hickman (JR, Pampa, Texas) scored teammate Heath Baker (JR, Highland Village, Texas) on a bunt single. The Buffs offense was held in check throughout the game, as WT tallied only three runs on 10 hits in the loss.

The Texans took a slim 3-2 lead into the top of the fourth inning, before they exploded for six runs on three hits to go along with two Buff fielding errors to take a commanding 9-2 lead that they wouldn't relinquish.

The Buffs plated one more run in the bottom of the eighth inning, as Coty Wilson (SR, China Spring, Texas) doubled home teammate Jake Parsons (JR, Amarillo, Texas).

Adam Kramer (SR, Albuquerque, New Mexico) picked up the loss on the mound (1-3) for the Buffs, giving up five runs on six hits in 3.2 innings of work.

"All-in-all this was a good weekend for our ballteam" said Vanderburg "Even though game four didn't turn out like we wanted, we're back in the race in the Lone Star Conference and that's there we want to be."

The Buffs return to action next weekend, as they travel to Lawton, Oklahoma for a LSC weekend series against Cameron. Doubleheader action is scheduled for 12:00 pm on Friday and Saturday afternoon.
