KINGSVILLE, Texas - Texas A&M-Kingsville completed a series sweep of the West Texas A&M baseball team on Saturday by handing the Buffs a 13-3 defeat at Nolan Ryan Field. The loss drops WT's overall record this season to 7-23 and 4-19 in Lone Star Conference South Division play.

The Javelinas (19-14; 14-10 LSC South) jumped out of the gate early in the contest, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning off WT starter Chris Cutierrez (0-3). Texas A&M-Kingsville's lead stretched to 8-0 as the Javelinas scored four more runs in the home half of the fifth.

WT rallied in the top of the sixth as Kevin Els led the inning off with a single through the left side and was able to score along with Erin Metts on a two-out, two-run single by third baseman Ben Edge. Second baseman Eric Lensing drove in a third Buff run with a single in the next at bat, but the rally ended with WT still trailing 8-3.

A five-run seventh inning by the Javelinas ended the game with no outs in the frame.

West Texas A&M baseball is back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Wayland Baptist in a 3 p.m. contest at Conner Park.
