March 17, 2007
CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M baseball team dropped both games on Saturday to Southeastern Oklahoma at Potter County Memorial Stadium in a Lone Star Conference crossover battle. The Buffs fell in the first game 5-2 and dropped game two 11-1 to the Savage Storm. Game one recap WTAMU (5-19) gave up five early runs, but managed to get the game close in the fourth and fifth innings when it came around to score a run in each frame. Caleb Palmer knocked in the first run on a sacrifice fly, while Brady Ribinskas had the other RBI on a single to center. Starting on the hill for the Buffs was Bart Cannon (2-3), who went 5.1 innings, allowing five runs, while giving up four walks. Frankie Rodriguez and Ethan Douglass came out of the bullpen and allowed just two hits, while Douglass struck out three SOSU (11-15) hitters. Game two recap Offensively for WTAMU, Brian Schupp and Coby Corley had two hits apiece, while Cody Dean had his eighth RBI of the season when A.J. Knight crossed the dish. Cody Sessions (0-2) started for the Buffs and struck out three in 2.2 innings, while allowing six unearned runs. The Savage Storm's big inning came in the third when they plated five runs, but Buffs pitching settled down and shut the door on SOSU during the middle frames. However, walks in the seventh inning allowed the Savage Storm to score five in the top half of the seventh to break the game open.
WTAMU will be at Panhandle State on Tuesday for a non-conferences single game clash. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. Following Tuesday's game, the Buffs will travel to Weatherford, Okla., to play Southwestern Oklahoma in a pair of LSC crossover doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday. |
