Final Stats

The West Texas A&M University baseball team split a twinbill with York College this afternoon in the final two games of the Buffs-Panthers four game series. The Buffs took the first game 7-2, before dropping the second game 7-2.

Senior first baseman Matt Rehkopf who earned LSC South Hitter of the Week for the week of Mar. X-X, lead the Buffs with a 3-3 effort with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in the first game. Freshman third baseman Brian Schupp also went 3-3 at the plate and sophomore right fielder Ryan Reneau put up two hits in his three at bats. Sophomore shortstop Cody Dean added two RBI to the Buffs' total with a 1-4 first game that included two stolen bases.

Senior starting pitcher Raymond Bergara threw a complete game with a solid effort from the mound, giving up only one earned run on six hits and striking out nine batters to earn his third win of the season.

Rehkopf added a homer in the second game, giving him a 4-6 line on the day with two home runs and five RBI, while sophomore starter Jessie Rodriguez threw five innings, giving up four runs, three earned, on seven hits with seven strikeouts on the day.

WTAMU hits the road for the Buffs' next four games, when the team will take on the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla. They will return home to the WTAMU Baseball Complex on Friday, Mar. 18 for the first of a pair of doubleheaders against East Central. All four games will begin at Noon and the second twinbill will be played on Saturday, Mar. 19.
