Box Score

EDMOND, Okla. - After inclement weather forced game time to be pushed back to 2:30 p.m., the West Texas A&M baseball team fell to Central Oklahoma, 19-0, in Edmond, Okla. Junior Kevin Els was the most productive Buff on offensive, hitting 2-for-4 on the day, while senior Ben Edge was 1-for-2 and freshman Zach Wleczyk was 1-for-3.

Buff pitchers struggled, hitting six Broncho batters and walking 10; junior Brandon Hickey (0-2) took the loss for WT as he allowed nine runs (7 ER), walked three and struck out four in 5.0 innings pitched.

In the first inning, Hickey walked UCO's Blake Mitchell but senior Kent Wright threw him out when he tried to steal second. The Buffs took care of the next two Broncho batters, but Hickey ran into trouble in the second as he gave up four runs (3 ER).

The Buffs could not get their bats going as the Bronchos scored again in the third inning and Hickey allowed three more runs for UCO.

Central Oklahoma added nine runs in the sixth inning with the help of Miguel Moctezuma's two-run home run directly following Breck Draper's 3RBI triple. The Brochos scored another five runs in the seventh by virtue of two walks and three batters hit by pitches.

Freshman Kelly Starr took to the mound for the last 1.1 innings and collected three strikeouts in his first collegiate appearance.

Broncho pitcher Dean McIntyre (2-0) collected the win, allowing four WT hits and walking one Buff batter in 7.0 innings pitched.

West Texas A&M returns to the field against Central Oklahoma with a double header on Monday, slated to begin at Noon.
