Kent Wright enters his first season as a member of the Buffalo Baseball coaching staff, after finishing up a great two-year career with the Buffs.

Following his senior season, Wright signed a contract to play in the New York State League during the summer of 2008.

A two-year letterwinner at catcher while at WT during the 2007 and 2008 seasons, Wright also saw duty in a utility role as himself and current Buffalo catcher Kevin Els split time both behind the plate and as designated hitters.

During the 2008 season, Wright started 29 of 30 contests and ranked among team leaders in both fielding percentage (.965) as well as putouts (115). Additionally, he finished the season on a strong note, batting .385 over the final three weeks of the campaign.

In 2007, Wright started in 13 games for the Buffs, tallying 10 hits in 44 at bats, including one double and four RBI's. Behind the plate, Wright recorded 50 putouts and six assists with only three errors in 59 chances for a fielding percentage of .949.

Before coming to Canyon, Wright attended Walla Walla Junior College where he graduated with an associate's degree in Agriculture Art & Science in 2006.

Wright is a graduate of St. John-Endicott High School where he lettered in baseball and football for the Eagles. He was recognized as second team all-state, first team all-league and league MVP for his efforts on the baseball diamond.

A native of St. John, Washington, Wright holds his bachelor's degree in Wildlife Management from West Texas A&M.
