THE PITCH / WTAMU TRACK & FIELD COMPLEX
Home of Buff and Lady Buff Soccer and Track & Field

The Pitch

As part of the Buffalo Sports Park, The Pitch was completed in 2010 and is the home of the West Texas A&M men’s and women’s soccer teams. The playing surface, which is surrounded by an all-weather running track, is made completely of AstroTurf GameDay 3D synthetic turf for a perfect playing surface year-round. The Pitch features seating for a capacity of 1,500 and has a full size press box with three separate rooms that accommodates home and visitor radio and television personal with ventilation and wireless access. Buffalo Sports Park holds a special distinction as being the largest all-artificial surface sports complex in the United States with competition playing facilities for track & field, soccer, baseball and softball. The Pitch hosted the 2012 Lone Star Conference Women’s Soccer Championship, won by the Lady Buffs.

Directly to the east of The Pitch sits the Buff’s and Lady Buff’s locker room facility that features three full size locker rooms, coaches offices, laundry facilities, a training room and lounge area.

The West Texas A&M Track and Field Complex was completed in 2010 as part of the Buffalo Sports Park.  The track is a double-bend European style track with long gradual curves and a Beynon BSS 1000 running surface which is conducive to some very fast times. There are four multiple-direction horizontal jump pits and runways on the east side of the stadium.  The throws area is on the northwest fields of the Buffalo Sports Complex.  The stadium can seat up to 1,500 spectators.  The Lone Star Conference Championship was held here as part of the LSC Spring Sports Festival in 2013.

“This facility has been an amazing benefit to our program," said track and field head coach Darren Flowers. "The track is great to train on and always produces some of the fastest times in the nation. I think if people take a look at some of the facility records that have been produced here over the last few years, they will see that the atmosphere and quality of competition brings out the best in our student-athletes.”
