CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M hit the road for Lone Star Conference action this Saturday as they head to Midland, Texas to take on the UT Permian Basin Falcons with kickoff set for 6:00 p.m. at Astound Broadband Stadium.
LSC ACTION CONTINUES
The march toward a Lone Star Conference Championship continues on Saturday as eight of the nine football playing institutions are in action against league foes. Texas A&M-Kingsville is idle this weekend.

A LOOK AT THE FALCONS
The Falcons enter the weekend with an overall record of 2-1 following an 86-7 victory over Southwest Baptist last Saturday on the road. UTPB opens their LSC schedule with the Buffs this weekend in Midland.

Kenny Hrnciar has completed 56-of-99 passes for 880 yards and 11 touchdowns with two interceptions while Kory Harris has carried the ball 36 times for a team-high 185 yards and three scores. Defensively, Hayden Kelly, a senior from Magnolia, has registered 19 total tackles (10 solo) to go along with a pair of hurries and a forced fumble.

UTPB HEAD COACH KRIS McCULLOUGH
Kris McCullough is in his first season at the helm of the UT Permian Basin football program, being hired on December 22nd following one season as the head coach at East Central.

McCullough led the Tigers to a 9-3 overall record in 2022 with a win over Texas A&M-Kingsville in the Fun Town RV Heritage Bowl. The Tigers had three All-Region and 16 All-GAC performers last season.

THE SERIES
The Buffaloes hold a 5-1 advantage in the all-time series dating back to the 2016 season. WT is 2-1 in Odessa with Saturday's matchup marking the first meeting between the two teams in Midland.Â

HEAD COACH JOSH LYNN
Josh Lynn is in his first season at the helm of the West Texas A&M Football program after being named the 29th head coach in program history in December of 2022.

Lynn, widely regarded as one of the nation's up-and-coming head coaches, came to Canyon following six seasons at the University of Nebraska-Kearney where he led the Lopers to an overall record of 35-25 including a run to the Second Round of the 2021 NCAA Division II Playoffs. Lynn coached 61 all-conference selections during his time in Kearney while being named the MIAA Coach of the Year in 2021.

THIS IS LSC FOOTBALL
LSC football began in 1931. Texas A&M-Kingsville posts a conference-best 27 championships, with its first coming in 1959 and last in 2009. West Texas A&M (1986, 2005-2007 and 2012) has won five LSC crowns.

LSC PRESEASON POLL
The Buffaloes have been tabbed fifth in the 2023 Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll announced during the league's annual Football Media Day.

Defending LSC Champion Angelo State picked up 25 of the possible 27 first place votes for a total of 241 points to sit atop of the poll followed by Central Washington (one first place, 198), Texas A&M-Kingsville (174), Midwestern State (147), West Texas A&M (123), Western Oregon (one first place, 118), UT Permian Basin (98), Eastern New Mexico (59) and Western New Mexico (57).

WHERE THE BUFFALOES ROAM
West Texas A&M is home to one of the premiere college football facilities in the country as Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium opened on September 7, 2019 to a capacity crowd of 10,145 fans as the Buffs toppled Asuza Pacific, 35-16. The state-of-the-art facility included Hellas Matrix FusionH XP2 artificial turf along with seven ground-level suites and the Fairly Group Club.

The LSC Digital Network enters its fifth year in 2023-24, showcasing academic and athletic events from the league and its 17 member institutions.

West Texas A&M is home to one of the most successful athletic programs in all of Division II.

For just second consecutive season, the Buffs and Lady Buffs finished second in the Division II LEARFIELD Director's Cup standings. It marked the fifth straight and seventh overall time that WT has finished inside of the Top-10 including the fourth straight inside of the Top-5.

FIRST UNITED FIELD
West Texas A&M Athletics and First United Bank announced a naming rights agreement at the university's on-campus football stadium. Under the terms of the deal, all events at Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium over the next 10 years will be played on First United Field.

First United Bank will enjoy significant brand exposure with signage and logo placement throughout Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium, as well as broadcast, video and other marketing and advertising opportunities.

The on-campus football stadium, named the premiere stadium in all of Division II Athletics, was renamed for the families in 2022, following a $5 million combined gift to WT's historic, $125 million One West comprehensive fundraising campaign.
