CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M head softball coach Kevin Blaskowski has resigned his position effective immediately, the University announced Monday.
Â
"The University community joins me in thanking Coach Blaskowski for his 13 years of service to West Texas A&M University," President Dr. Walter Wendler said. "We appreciate the hard work, commitment and dedication he brought to WT in building a strong and winning softball team."
Â
Blaskowski restarted the Lady Buff softball program in 2006 after a 24-year absence and, under his guidance, has amassed a 467-246 record in 12 seasons as coach at WT. His teams claimed five Lone Star Conference Championships, eight-straight NCAA postseason appearances, two College World Series berths and the 2014 NCAA Division II National Championship.
Â
"I am resigning to pursue a business opportunity," Blaskowski said. "I would like to thank all of my current and former players for their dedication to the program, and all of the amazing fans and supporters of Buff nation for their years of support."
Â
Associate Head Coach Candace Abrams will take over the day-to-day duties of the softball program during the interim.Â
Â
"Lady Buff softball has grown into a national power under Coach Blaskowski's leadership, and I thank him for his years of service and commitment to WT," Director of Athletics Michael McBroom said.
