Buffs Show Potential in First Fall Scrimmage

CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M concluded their first week of Fall drills with a controlled scrimmage Saturday morning. The scrimmage, held in cool, drizzly conditions that had some fans sitting under blankets in the Kimbrough Memorial Stadium stands, saw the Buffs' first-team offensive and defensive units appear in good form during what was the team's first game-like simulation. RICHARDSON, Texas - Three WTAMU Lady Buff volleyball players were honored Thursday as league officials announced the Preseason Players of the Year for the 2008 season. West Texas A&M swept the honors as Laura Prinsen was named Offensive Player of the Year, while Sara Contreras claimed Defensive Player of the Year recognition and Katie Rickwartz received Setter of the Year acclaim. he league's preseason awards were selected by a vote of LSC head coaches and sports information directors, plus various media representatives from throughout the region. RICHARDSON , Texas - West Texas A&M's Ben Everson and Midwestern State 's Robert Swann were selected as the Southwest Soccer Conference Preseason Players of the Year for 2008 league officials announced Thursday.
